On this day ten years ago, the GAA made an amendment to Rule 42 which allowed the playing of soccer and rugby at Croke Park while Lansdowne Road was being redeveloped.
There was much debate on the motion to amend the infamous ruling ahead of the 2005 GAA Congress at Croke Park.
The motion was eventually passed by 227-97, and so had the two-thirds majority required.
An RTÉ News report from the day got the views from delegates on both sides of the debate, with reaction also from the then GAA President, Sean Kelly and Minister for Sport, John O'Donoghue, TD.
