The red card shown to Clare's Brendan Bugler in his side's victory over Dublin has been upheld, meaning he will miss Sunday's league game against Kilkenny and either a relegation play-off or quarter-final.
The Whitegate wing-back was sent-off in the 35th-minute for "attempting to kick with minimal force" and has had appeal against the offence turned down by the Central Hearings Committee.
As it was a repeat offence, Bugler has therefore been banned for two games instead of one.
At the same sitting of the CHC, it was decided to downgrade the black card Dublin footballer Denis Bastick picked up against Kerry to a yellow card.
A black card could result in a suspension if a player picks up two further black cards within a calendar year at senior inter-county level.
