Tyrone poised for ground breaking appointment

Roisin Jordan will become the first ever female county board chairperson if she is elected to the position in Tyrone tonight.

Jordan has spent the last five years working as Tyrone vice-chairperson and is one of three nominations for the position.

Vice chair has generally succeeded the outgoing chairperson in previous Tyrone elections, so Jordan is seen as favourite for the role.

She is a former camogie player who came through the administrative ranks, starting out with her club Eglish where she served as secretary.

Her first role with the county board was as a member of Tyrone’s disciplinary board.

Donal Magee (Killyclogher) and Eugene McConnell (Clogher) are the other two nominees for chairperson.
