Ireland 2-18 Scotland 0-8 (Agg: 38-31)
Westmeath’s Eoin Price delivered a man of the match display as Ireland claimed the senior shinty-hurling series at Pairc Esler in Newry tonight.
Price bagged 2-05, including a decisive 72nd minute goal, as Ireland retained the title.
Ireland recorded 13 first-half wides, and not more than two points separated the sides in the opening 33 minutes, until Price’s first goal handed the hosts a 1-06 to 0-04 interval lead.
Scotland scores were rare in the second half, with Kevin Bartlett just delivering two two-pointer frees in the closing 40 minutes.
Ronald Ross’s side played second fiddle after the break as Ireland, buoyed on by a strong home support, powered to victory, with Price, Cork’s Conor Lehane and captain and goalkeeper Eoin Reilly from Laois in superb form.
