Kilkenny’s Michael Fennelly admits he has found preparations for this weekend's All-Ireland final replay with Galway "a bit strange".

Fennelly, who captained the Cats to All-Ireland glory in 2009, has noticed differences in preparing for a decider at the end of September.

Speaking to local radio station KCLR96FM he said: "Normally there is huge buzz and hype around All-Ireland Final time, but it’s been a bit strange this time. The atmosphere and the aura is very, very strange.

"Even with the weather and that, and the nights without light in the evening time means we are training that bit earlier.

"Even the field is not what it was two weeks ago.

"It is a strange feeling and a place we have never been before.

"But we just have to get on with it and don’t make excuses."
