Cork hurling boss Jimmy Barry-Murphy has tried to play down his role in the success of the Rebels this season.
The Munster men take on All-Ireland champions Kilkenny in Sunday’s Allianz League final looking to embellish their recent progress with a trophy.
“I get slightly embarrassed when I hear this thing of me coming back in.
"Obviously, I’m part of the thing but what I’m trying to do is put very, very good people who I have great respect for, and people who are prepared to challenge me, and we challenge each other, and I think we have a very good selection committee,” the manager said in The Irish Examiner.
Barry-Murphy, winner of All-Ireland medals in both hurling and football, also spoke about the possibility of dual star Eoin Cadogan earning his second league medal in a week, having already claimed a football medal when Cork beat Mayo on Sunday.
“It would be a fabulous achievement for Eoin. I thought he was outstanding last week against Mayo. Somebody asked me today if it was difficult [to play both codes]. I think it’s a lot more difficult if you’re losing matches,” said Barry-Murphy.
