Galway footballers have received a boost ahead of the Connacht Championship with the news that Michael Meehan could be available for their opener against Roscommon.
The Caltra player has been plagued with an ankle injury and last played for the county in their All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Meath last July.
However, he came on as a second-half sub in a a challenge match against Laois last weekend. In a further boost for the Tribes, Sean Armstrong also lined out against the O'Moore county following a leg injury picked up in training in March.
Galway visit Dr Hyde Park for the eagerly-awaited game with the Rossies on 20 May, with hopes high within the county that a more productive summer campaign is in the offing.
The westerners have struggled to make an impact in the senior ranks in the last few years, but a solid league campaign that saw them narrowly miss out on promotion to Division 1, allied with last year's success All-Ireland U-21 success, is a strong indicator that they can be a force again.
