Ireland international rules manager Anthony Tohill has been handed several selection setbacks ahead of side’s trip to Australia next weekend.
The Irish team will fly out next Saturday but looks likely to do so without captain Stephen Cluxton, Darran O'Sullivan and Colm Begley.
Cluxton and Begley will both remain behind to play in club side Parnells’ Dublin SFC quarter-final clash with Ballymun Kickhams on Saturday.
Should Parnells overcome Ballymun, then the duo will be faced with the dilemma of having to choose either club or country.
"We have a bit of thinking to do. I think we can play one more game and if needs be, we can fly out after that," Begley told the Irish Daily Star.
"We'll play the game and go from there. I'd be delighted to go over there, but if Parnells are in the championship I'll stay. Club commitments are the main thing.
"It's a bit harder for Stephen. He's very dedicated to his club. He's captain and that's a real honour. I won't say will he or won't he, but he's very dedicated to his club."
O'Sullivan appears to have already made that decision and has opted to stay behind for Mid-Kerry’s SFC final against Dr Crokes on 30 October.
"I would have loved to go to Australia and play for Ireland. I have enjoyed the training with the lads and learning all about a new game. I haven't given up hope just yet but we have to wait and see," he said.
"I am in a county final and I am not going to leave the Mid Kerry lads, as much as I would love the experience of going over and playing with the Irish team."
There is better news for Tohill elsewhere as he will have Ulster duo Michael Murphy and Kevin McKernan available, after the Ulster Council postponed two of their provincial club quarter-finals.
Murphy's Glenswilly and McKernan's Burren were both due to feature in the AIB Ulster club SFC quarter-finals, 30 October.
However the council confirmed that the Burren's clash with Roslea and have been put back two weeks Glenswilly's match against Latton have both been pushed back two weeks.
