The All-Ireland 40x20 Senior Doubles final will be a Cavan Meath showdown, following the Royal County and Breffni men's victories at Kingscourt on Saturday.

Reigning champions, Paul Brady and Michael Finnegan were pushed in their opening game against Dublin's Eoin Kennedy and Egin Jensen, eventually winning out 21-16.

In the second game, Brady and Finnegan were in devastating form and showed just why they have been the dominant force on the senior doubles stage in recent years. Following some superb play by the Cavan men, they booked their spot in the final with a 21-8 victory.

In the second semi-final, Meath's Tom Sheridan and Brian Carroll produced a fine display to make their first 40x20 Senior Doubles final. The pair, of course, won last year's 60x30 Senior Doubles crown and their Armagh opponents, James Doyle and Charly Shanks found it difficult to keep in touch with the Royals.

In the first game, Sheridan and Carroll started well but were finding aces difficult to come by, eventually winning 21-11, but the Orchard County men failed to reproduce the same form in the second with Meath winning 21-4 to seal their final place against Brady and Finnegan.

Meanwhile, Kerry's Maria Daly and Ashley Prendville are through to the All-Ireland 40x20 Senior Doubles final, following an emphatic 21-4, 21-13 win over Mayo's Pauline Gallagher and Amy Corrigan.

In the second of the weekend’s semi-finals, Cork's Aisling O'Keeffe and Catriona Casey brought reigning world champions Sibeal Gallagher and Fiona Shannon to a tiebreaker, but came up short to the Antrim stars. The Rebelettes took the first game 21-20, but came undone in the second and third, where they eventually lost out 21-9, 21-9.
