Down attacker Benny Coulter has emerged a doubt for the forthcoming International Rules series against Australia.

He injured himself during a club game at the weekend. Along with Armagh's Stevie McDonnell, Coulter is seen as a potential captain of Anthony's Tohill's for the two-match series against the Australians. The manager is expected to announce the squad and captain on Thursday.

The make-up of the 23-man squad looks set to include two Australian-based Kerrymen, as Tadhg Kennelly and Tommy Walsh took part in a training camp in Limerick last weekend.

Other AFL-based players who could make the frame are Derry's Chrissy McKaigue and Mayo's Pearse Hanley, while former AFL players Michael Shields (Cork), Martin Clarke (Down), Colm Begley (Laois) and Brendan Murphy (Carlow) are also in contention to feature in the Limerick and Croke Park tests.
