Ireland International Series player Colm Begley has been informed by his club, the Brisbane Lions, that his playing contract will not be renewed next season.

Begley played 29 senior matches and kicked seven goals with the Lions since being recruited from County Laois at the end of 2005.

The 22 year-old played 19 senior matches in 2007, yet only managed eight senior games this year due to a quad injury.

A statement on the Brisbane club’s website thanked Begley for the contribution to the club and wished him well with future endeavours.
