There will be a new name on the Independent Cup this year following the defeat of Dublin's Eoin Kennedy and Egin Jensen in the M Donnelly All-Ireland Senior Doubles semi-final in Mullingar on Saturday.
In one of the most exciting games of the championship, Meath's Tom Sheridan and Brian Carroll fended off the Dublin challenge to book a final place against Mayo's Dessie Keegan and Joe McCann.
The opening game set the scene for what would be a classic as both pairings had changes to take the game at 20-20. After some tense moments for the large crowd, it was Meath who hit 21 to take the advantage.
Veteran Kells handballer, Sheridan, who has already amassed eight All-Ireland Senior Doubles titles during his career, was in top form while young-gun, Carroll showed great composure on the right.
The second game served up an identically heated contest and with the Royal men leading 19-18, it looked like they would progress.
But the experience of Jensen and Kennedy told as they mounted their comeback to eventually win the game 21-20. In handball terms, it doesn't get any closer than this.
In the third game, both sets of players threw their hearts into play but it was to be the Royal's day as they finished strongly to take a 21-15 win and send the Dubliners, who were bidding for a fourth title, out of the championship.
Meanwhile, in the Ladies Senior Championship, Limerick's Bernie Hennessy will make her return to the All-Ireland Final stage following her 21-16, 21-2 semi-final win over Kerry's Maria Daly in Broadford, Limerick, on Saturday.
Defending champion, the Kingdom's Ashley Prendeville was also in action and despite being forced to a third game, overcame Roscommon's Marianna Rushe 21-16, 20-21, 21-13 to seal her final place against four-time champion, Hennessy.
