The Cork County Board has named Conor Counihan as the new manager of the county's senior football team.

Counihan replaces Teddy Holland who was last night sacked by the county board, following a vote by delegates that brought an end to the players' strike.

The strike saw inter-county fixtures go unfulfilled due to a strike for the first time in the GAA's history.

Former All Star defender Counihan, who won back-to-back All-Ireland medals in 1989 and 1990, will name his selectors in the coming days.
