The GAA, at a meeting of it's Central Council on Saturday,  have confirmed that changes in match regulations which will be introduced for the Allianz National Leagues in 2007.

Include among these will be the introduction of a runner for the first time. They may move along the sidelines and end-lines, but can only enter the field of play during a break in play. As a result the team manager must remain in the dugout during the game.

In future five team officials only will be allowed entry to the pitch enclosure during a game. These will include the manager, runner, doctor, physio and county secretary or a designated replacement.

In future only sliotars approved by CLG which display the official GAA stamp may be used in games and goalkeepers no longer be permitted to use a private supply of sliotars from their goal area.

Four water carriers per fixture appointed by the Committee in charge and wearing distinctive gear will be permitted.

All of the new regulations will be reviewed after the NHL and NFL finish up in spring.
