An Australian International Rules player has been sent home following an alleged incident in Galway after the first test game against Ireland last Saturday night.
Brendon Fevola who plays with the Carlton Club in Melbourne is reported to have assaulted a hotel staff member, with the incident apparently being captured on CCTV.
Fevola was interviewed by the Gardaí and having a viewed a video of the alleged incident, a full AFL investigation was launched and a meeting of the team's disciplinary committee took place.
The disciplinary committee determined that Fevola was guilty of unacceptable behaviour and AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou confirmed that Favola would be removed from the tour party and was being sent home.
He also confirmed the player had offered a full and unconditional apology for his actions.
