Mr Nickey Brennan, President of the GAA, has announced that Paraic Duffy has been appointed as the Associations Player Welfare Manager.
The Principal of St. Macartans College in Monaghan brings a wealth of experience to the post. He was a former Chairman of the Monaghan County Board and has chaired many GAA Committees including the Games Administration Committee.
On the playing side Pauric was a selector on the successful Monaghan senior football team from 1983 to 1987 and was the International Rules Tour Manager in Australia in 2001 as well as two Junior Tours. He has been involved with coaching at underage at all levels and holds a Club Coach Level One Award.
He will be based in Croke Park and will be the first point of contact for all GAA intercounty players on matters, amongst others, of player welfare, injuries, processing of claims.
Pauric’s duty as Player Welfare Manager will start on 1 January 2007.
