Former Young Hurler of the Year Setanta O'hAilpin has played in back-to-back AFL Premiership matches for Carlton for the first time.
The 23-year-old could do little to help the second-from-bottom Blues from slumping to their seventh successive defeat earlier today.
Geelong won the Round 14 clash at the Telstra Dome by a veritable landslide, 142-77.
O’hAilpin, who left Cork for Melbourne in 2003, has been operating in the Blues' back-line for the past two matches, having made his debut as a forward last May. He made his second Premiership appearance of the season last week against Brisbane.
Despite Carlton's poor form and their recent request for a AUS$1.5million loan from the Australian Football League, O'hAilpin seems certain to see out the two-year contract he penned late last year.
The deal sees him receiving a minimum of AUS$39,000 (EUR23,000) per season and match payments of AUS$2,500 (EUR1,500) per game.
Ironically, with his eldest brother Sean Og bidding to help the Cork hurlers to a three-in-a-row, Setanta could be in action for Carlton on the day of the All-Ireland hurling final.
The Blues wrap up their Premiership campaign on September 3 against reigning champions Sydney, the club of former Kerry footballer Tadhg Kennelly.
