Australia win Youth International series

Australia have won the 2006 Youth International Rules series having won the deciding test at the Freemantle Oval in Perth this morning on a scoreline of 45-30.

With the first two games having ended level, both teams had everything to play for in a thoroughly entertaining game played in a fine spirit.

The Australians adapted better to the warm conditions and built up a commanding early lead which they did not subsequently relinquish.

Having led 25 - 10 at half time, the Australians went on to dominate the third quarter.

The Irish team - as had been the case in the previous two games - rallied and were not flattered with the final score line of 45-30.

Kevin Nolan (Dublin) was very prominent throughout and was voted Irish
Man of the Match

Pearse Hanley (Mayo) kicked 13 points and emerged with the Ron Barazzi Medal as the Irish player of the series.
