Cork's Gemma O'Connor and Valerie Mulcahy were named the Vodafone GAA Camogie and Ladies' Football Players of the Year for 2005.

O'Connor played a significant part in Cork's march to this year's All-Ireland title, and scored three points from play in their 1-17 to 1-13 win over Tipperary in the final.

Mulcahy was instrumental in the county's maiden All-Ireland triumph, scoring 1-05 as the Rebel women beat Galway 1-11 to 0-08 in front of 23,358 at Croke Park.

It is the first time that players from the same county have been honoured together in the award scheme.
