Peter Canavan could be a part of Ulster's Railway Cup challenge as manager Brian McEniff is trying to tempt the former Tyrone forward into action.
Canavan announced his retirement from inter-county football in the wake of Tyrone's All-Ireland triumph over Kerry in the 2005 final.
McEniff, who has appointed Armagh attacker Steven McDonnell as his captain, is trying to patch together a squad in the face of multiple cases of unavailability.
Eleven of the province's top players are currently in Australia with the International Rules squad, others are injured, and some are involved in county and Provincial Club Championships.
The long-serving manager is hoping Canavan will answer the call, but injury has cast a doubt over the Errigal Ciaran man's participation in the game at Crossmaglen on Sunday week.
