Captain Juliette Murphy hit the winning point as Cork edged into their first ever All-Ireland senior ladies football final today. The Munster champions overcame a dogged Mayo side, winning 0-13 to 1-09 in Portlaoise.

A 17th-minute goal from Cora Staunton had put the four-time champions 1-05 to 0-05 in front at half-time.

Then Caoimhe Creedon levelled things, before midfielder Murphy swung over the winner with twenty seconds left to book Cork’s place in the October 2 decider.
