The GAA have announced that the ESB will be the official sponsor of the the All-Ireland Minor Football and Hurling Championships.

The deal comes into effect from the All-Ireland Minor Hurling final on September 11 and will run for three years. ESB will be the first ever sponsor of the All-Ireland Minor Championships.

Padraig McManus, chief executive of the ESB described the deal as a logical bond between two of the oldest associations in the country. He said: "This sponsorship links the many common attributes in terms of countrywide involvement, being community based and commitment to quality shared by both organisations."

GAA President Séan Kelly added that the deal puts into a formal context the long relationship between the two associations.

Past All-Ireland winners that have worked for the ESB include Anthony Molloy (Donegal), Joe Dooley (Offaly) and Conal Bonnar (Tipperary).
