Former All Star hurler Kevin Broderick should be available for Galway to face Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final on August 21.
The Abbey/Duniry clubman has been injured for several months and his addition to the squad would be a major boost for manager Conor Hayes and his selectors.
Broderick recently underwent a groin operation and hopes to be available to line out against the Cats.
He said: "I'm feeling good now and it's great to get back training with the lads. Before the operation training was a real struggle. I couldn't do anything right."
The last time Galway faced Kilkenny in an All-Ireland semi-final Broderick scored a memorable point that helped his side to victory.
