The GAA has issued a strong warning to any players, officials or others who abuse referees by words or gestures before, during or after games.

The hierarchy has also stated that if county officers or team managers want to express an opinion about a referee, then they should contact the Provincial Referees' Administrator.

Those who make direct approaches to a referee after a game seeking clarification of the referee's report shall be penalised and any such approach will be considered as intimidation of the official.
