The GAA's Annual Congress takes place in the Burlington Hotel tomorrow with the contentious issue of other sports being played in Croke Park up for discussion. Although that is the motion that has captured the attention of the media in the lead up to tomorrow's meeting, there are other important issues which will be voted on by delegates such as the introduction of the Hurling Development Committee's proposals for changes to the format of the All-Ireland Hurling Championship.
However, due to the cultural and financial implications of allowing other sports such as rugby and soccer to be played at the GAA's headquarters, this one particular motion proposed by a Roscommon club is seen as the most significant and most contentious. About 16 counties have admitted that they will be voting in favour of the issue tomorrow but with six counties firmly against it and many others yet to decide on their vote, there is no way of knowing if tomorrow will see the historical proposal passed. If an amendment to Rule 42 is to be made, a two-thirds majority is needed tomorrow and while the word on the ground is that a simple majority is not unlikely, a two-thirds majority could be too much to ask for.

It was also confirmed tonight that RTÉ have signed a new deal with the GAA for radio and television broadcasting rights for the next three years. Meanwhile, in today's Fitzgibbon Cup Final, the match ended all square after extra time with UCD and UCC scoring 0-15 apeice.
