Galway manager John O'Mahony has left two vacancies in defence for his side's Connacht semi-final with Sligo on Sunday. O'Mahony is waiting to see if John Divilly and Séan Óg de Paor recover from injury in time to take their places. However, Michael Donnellan and Gary Fahy both return to face a Sligo side that defeated Mayo in their opening encounter.
Carraroe man de Paor is suspended until midnight Saturday, but is also trying to recover from a muscle injury. Donnellan comes in for Jarlath Fallon at centre-forward, Fallon being ruled out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury. Fahy takes over from John Killeen at full-back while usual wing-back and All-Ireland winning captain in '98, Ray Silke has been selected at centre-back.
The team is: M McNamara; T Meehan, G Fahy, A N Other; D Meehan, R Silke, A N Other; S O'Domhnaill, J Bergin; P Clancy, M Donnellan, T Joyce; D Savage, P Joyce, N Finnegan.
