Athenry have recaptured the All-Ireland Club title which they last won in 1997, beating their Clare neighbours St. Joseph's Doora Barefield by four points. St. Joseph's started the game the better, leading at one stage by 5 points in the first half. However some great play from the Galwaymen, especially Eugene Cloonan, brought them straight back into the game early in the second half, and from there they never looked back, winning by 0-16 to 0-12.

It was little consolation for St Joseph's who were looking for two in a row having beaten Athenry in a controversial semi-final last year in Thurles.
