GAA: McDonagh expresses concern over divisions

President of the GAA Joe McDonagh has expressed concern about the divisions between players and the Association. The GAA President was speaking at a press briefing in Croke Park yesterday where the report of the Players Advisory Group, which he set up 3 years ago, was formally launched. In an obvious reference to the formation of the unofficial Gaelic Players Association, he said those barriers between the association and the players should be broken down. He also stated that the Gaelic Players Association was an unofficial body and was not entitled to negotiate on behalf of the players. The main thrust of yesterday's report is that no player will be allowed to appoint an agent. Instead the GAA will operate its own agency at a central level to promote the involvement of players and teams in product endorsement and commercial appearances.
