Seán Fitzgerald has stepped away from the Galway football panel as he looks to win a place on the reality TV programme Love Island.
The 25-year-old, who joined the senior ranks in 2022 and established himself in the Tribes' full-back line in recent seasons, played the full 70 minutes against Leitrim in the Connacht SFC semi-final last month.
The Bearna clubman was not part of the matchday panel for the provincial final defeat to Roscommon, with the Irish Examiner reporting that he has been shortlisted to be a contestant on the British dating programme, which is set in Majorca and starts on ITV on 1 June.
The primary school teacher has a growing social media presence (nearly 95,000 followers on TikTok), with Fitzgerald publishing a video expressing his interest in appearing on the show.
