Westmeath could be part of the Tailteann Cup draw

The draw for the first round of the 2026 Tailteann Cup will take place on Monday lunchtime with the last of the 16 places still yet to be determined.

The teams definitely involved in the draw are Waterford, Wicklow, Sligo, London, Limerick, Laois, Leitrim Tipperary, Fermanagh, Longford, Offaly, Antrim, Clare, Carlow, and Wexford.

Depending on results, the 16th team in the Tailteann Cup will either be Westmeath, Down or Cavan.

Westmeath could seal a place in the All-Ireland series if they beat Kildare in the Leinster Football Championship, with the other semi-finals results to determine which team will be in the second tier competition.

The draw, which will begin from 1pm, will be open with the first team out in each tie enjoying home advantage.

The majority of fixtures will be played on the weekend of 9 / 10 May.

However, any games involving a team knocked out of their provincial championship on the weekend of 2 / 3 May will take place on the weekend 16 / 17 May.
