St Ergnat's Moneyglass 3-10 Errigal Ciaran 0-06
St Ergnat's Moneyglass from Antrim turned in a powerful display to win their first AIB Ulster senior club title against Errigal Ciaran at Brewster Park.
The foundation for their victory was three first-half goals, along with tenacious defending and powerful running.
Errigal Ciaran started strong, with county star Aoife Horisk firing over the first two points.
The Tyrone champions were then awarded a fifth minute penalty, however, the usually reliable Maria Canavan dragged her spot-kick wide.
Moneygalss opened their account in the 11th minute through the experienced Cathy Carey.
The Antrim side were starting to get on top and in the 16th minute Leah Stweart found the net after she reacted quickest to a high ball.
A second goal followed five minutes later, this time it was Carey who netted after being set up by Stewart.
Horisk immediately responded with her third point but Moneyglass then extended their lead when Maria O'Neill fired to the net after a strong run.
Errigal had the last say of the half, with Maria Canavan firing over a free, however, the Antrim champs went in happiest at the break leading 3-01 to 0-04.
Moneyglass hit the ground running in the second half with Carey, O’Neill and Bronagh Devlin all pointing.
Horisk opened Errigal’s second-half scoring in the seventh minute but thereafter Moneyglass were outstanding, with further points followed from Carey (2), Devlin and Stewart.
With time running out, Emile Loughran found the net for Errigal, however, the referee after consulting with his umpires disallowed it for a square ball.
Moneyglass were also denied a late goal courtesy of a brave save from keeper Megan O Brien.
Two more points followed for Moneyglass and then in injury time Errigal were awarded a penalty, which Aine Devlin tipped over the bar.
