Jason Sherlock has been confirmed as part of the Roscommon senior football management team under new boss Mark Dowd.
Thursday night's meeting of the county board ratified Sherlock's appointment on the ticket alongside Iain Daly (Michael Glaveys), John Rogers (Strokestown) and former Kilkenny hurling strength and conditioning coach Mickey Comerford.
With the Dublin 1995 All-Ireland winner present at last Sunday's county final replay between St Brigid's and Pádraig Pearses, speculation intensified that a high-profile addition was imminent.
After working as a performance coach with Westmeath in 2023 and 2024, and previously as part of the Dublin backroom team that won five All-Irelands on the spin, Sherlock now links up with a Roscommon side who will begin 2026 back in Division 1 of the Allianz League, with previous manager Davy Byrne overseeing a successful promotion campaign.
However, that proved to be the high point of 2025 for the Rossies, as their championship run was somewhat underwhelming, culminating in defeat to Cork which ended their interest in the All-Ireland series.
Dowd was part of Roscommon's minor management team in 2006 when they won the All-Ireland, and also managed the county to and Connacht Under-21 title in 2015. He was also involved in the senior side's Connacht triumphs in 2010 and 2019 and managed Roscommon Gaels before succeeding Davy Byrne in August.
