Newbridge 1-17 Magherafelt 1-15

Seán O'Leary Newbridge withstood a late surge form Magherafelt to make it back-to-back wins in the Derry SFC after a 1-17 to 1-15 victory at Celtic Park.

Both goals came in the opening ten minutes, with Callum McGrogan fisting to the net for the defending champions before Shane Heavron found the net for Magherafelt.

A point separated the sides at the break and it was level shortly after the resumption courtesy of a Shane McGuckin free for the challengers.

However, Newbridge put on a spurt and two-pointers from Conor McAteer and Conor Oisín Doherty had them six points clear after 45 minutes.

Magherafelt's response saw them register orange flags from Heavron (free) and Dan Higgins to narrow the gap.

Late scores, however, from McAteer and Eamon Young would see Newbridge over the line.
