Three-time Ulster champions Slaughtneil have exited the Derry championship after their appeal against their semi-final defeat to Newbridge was unsuccessful.
Slaughtneil were defeated 0-21 to 1-16 in last weekend's semi-final, although there was controversy over a late score from Shane McGuigan, which was awarded as a one-pointer despite furious protests that the All-Star forward had kicked the ball outside the arc.
From the next play, Newbridge were awarded a free, which was brought forward 50 metres, with Conor Doherty slotting the two-pointer to put the 2024 champions in front. Padraig McGrogan added another score to give them a two-point victory.
Slaughtneil lodged an appeal against the result, however that proved unsuccessful and it is understood the club will not be pursuing the matter further.
Reigning Derry champions Newbridge will face Magherafelt in Sunday's Derry decider, the latter having overcome 2023-24 All-Ireland champions Glen in the other semi-final.
