All-Ireland SFC runners-up Donegal have received more nominations than champions Kerry as the PwC All-Star football nominees have been announced for 2025.

Jack O'Connor's side, who swept to the All-Ireland title with emphatic wins over Armagh, Tyrone and Donegal in the knockout series, have nine nominees, one less than their All-Ireland final opponents.

David Clifford, heavy favourite for the Footballer of the Year award, is one of just three Kerry forwards to receive nominations, alongside his brother Paudie and Sean O'Shea, the latter having delivered a stunning display in their defeat of reigning champions Armagh.

In defence, captain Gavin White, full-back Jason Foley, marauding wing-back Brian Ó Beaglaíoch and half-back Mike Breen have all received nominations, as does goalkeeper Shane Ryan.

In midfield, breakout star Joe O'Connor is inevitably nominated, the Austin Stacks player also shortlisted for Footballer of the Year.

Donegal, who returned to the All-Ireland decider for the first time in 11 years, have 10 nominees.

Michael Murphy, who stepped out of retirement at the beginning of 2025, finishes the year with an All-Star nomination and a place on the Footballer of the Year shortlist.

In attack, he's joined by team-mates Conor O'Donnell and Shane O'Donnell, as well as the experienced Ciaran Thompson.

Michael Langan is shortlisted at midfield, while five defenders are nominated, Peadar Mogan, Ciaran Moore, Finnbar Roarty, Brendan McCole and Ryan McHugh.

Elsewhere, Meath's resurgent season has seen them receive five All-Star nominations, three of them coming in attack with Jordan Morris, Matthew Costello and Ruairí Kinsella all in the mix.

Inspirational full-back Seán Rafferty is also nominated in defence, as is Ciarán Caulfield.

Defending champions Armagh also have five nominations despite bowing out in the quarter-final, with Rory Grugan, Oisín Conaty, Ross McQuillan, Jarly Óg Burns and roaming keeper Ethan Rafferty in the shake-up.

Conaty is in the hunt to win a second Young Footballer of the Year award in a row, shortlisted alongside Donegal corner back Finnbarr Roarty and Galway centre-forward Matthew Thompson.

The full breakdown of nominations is: Donegal 10, Kerry 9, Meath 5, Armagh 5, Louth 3, Galway 3, Tyrone 2, Dublin 2, Down 1, Derry 1, Mayo 1.
