Kieran McGeeney will remain the longest-serving inter-county football manager after it was confirmed he will take charge of Armagh for a 12th season.

McGeeney, who captained his county to maiden Sam Maguire success in 2002 before managing the Orchard County to ultimate glory in 2024, was ratified at a County Committee meeting on Monday night.

In 2014 McGeeney was appointed manager having spent a year as assistant to Paul Grimley and it was five years before he oversaw a first win in the Ulster championship.

As well as All-Ireland ambitions, Armagh will be seeking better luck in Ulster next year having lost three provincial deciders on the bounce.

By 2023, he had become the longest serving inter-county manager after Colm Collins stepped down as Clare manager.
