Conor McKenna's Brisbane Lions will provide the opposition for Oisín Mullin and Mark O’Connor as Geelong Cats aim to win the AFL Premiership for the first time since 2022.
Mullin and O’Connor both featured in Friday’s preliminary final win over Hawthorn, with holders Brisbane securing their spot in the 27 September MCG Grand Final thanks to a 100-71 win over Collingwood.
Tyrone man McKenna played the final quarter of last year’s final win, but is unlikely to be involved this time around having last played for Brisbane in Round 20, with the player featuring in the VFL in more recent times.
Brisbane may have had 29 points to spare by full time, but it was far from an easy assignment with Collingwood kicking an incredible six goals without reply in the second quarter to lead 43-10 at the main break.
Irish influence runs deep in the history of Aussie Rules
From there though, the Lions took control with Ty Gallop (3), Zac Bailey (2), Cam Rayner (2) and Will Ashcroft (2) all ending with multiple goals.
