Donegal manager Jim McGuinness was happy to see his side bounce back from last week's disappointing defeat to Tyrone with victory in a fiery encounter against Cavan, during which he and Ray Galligan were involved in a heated sideline row.
McGuinness men got the better of Cavan in impressive fashion in front of a bumper crowd at Kingspan Breffni Park, running out 3-26 to 1-16 winners.
While the action on the pitch was enthralling there were plenty of fireworks on the sidelines and both managers were shown a yellow card by referee Fergal Kelly for a heated arguments between the two just before half-time.
McGuinness was unhappy with an incident where Dara McVeety went to ground when Donegal were on the break and he remonstrated with his opposite number, sparking the row.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport afterwards, the Donegal boss explained his frustrations with both Cavan and what he felt was a lack of reaction from the match officials, insisting that he was only looking after the interests of his team.
"We weren't happy with some of the things that were going on, on the pitch," he said. "We had two transitional moments and both of them were stopped for head injuries, so we were getting annoyed with that.
"We had [referee] Sean Hurson on the sideline in the second-half and you can have a really good conversation with him. In the first half we weren’t happy with a lot of the things that were going on and we were bringing it to attention, but we were being blanked.
"So sometimes you have to deal with it yourself and that’s what we did. This is football and these things do happen.
"My duty of care is to my players and if I feel my players are being taken advantage of in any way or not getting a fair shake in any way, then it’s up to me to do something about it and deal with that. That's what I did."

On the pitch, the Donegal manager was pleased with the reaction his side showed after last week’s disappointing performance against Tyrone
"We were obviously very disappointed with our performance last weekend and we were coming into the Lion's den today with a great atmosphere. There was a moment there where you have to respond and that's what championship football's all about.
"There were so many things wrong last weekend and we got back to what we’re normally good at today. Everybody was on it, everybody was tuned into the right things and the focus was in the right place so the performances came from that.
"It’s great to get two points, all the other teams are on two points so we’ll see what will happen in the next round. Mayo will be a massive challenge and we have to get ready for that battle.
"There's no easy games in the championship. The bottom line is we've got back on track today and now we have to refocus on another game and there'll be a game the week after that, probably, or the week after that."
