Kerry 1-22 Cork 1-12
Kerry are on the brink of securing a place in the final of the Dalata Hotel Group Munster U20 Football Championship after inflicting a 1-22 to 1-12 defeat on rivals Cork at Austin Stack Park in Tralee on Monday night.
The reigning Munster champions were fast out of the blocks against a sluggish opponent, and one who couldn't capitalise on playing with the wind in the opening half.
Ronan Carroll netted for the Kingdom after 16 minutes, with earlier points by Tomas Kennedy, Paddy Lane, Ciaran Collins, Daniel Kirby and Eddie Healy ensuring the hosts led by 1-05 to 0-02 at that juncture.
A pair of two-pointers from Darragh Gough in the second quarter kept Cork in the game, but a further brace of points from Lane meant Tómás Ó Sé's side enjoyed a 1-09 to 0-07 lead at the interval.
Kerry opened the second half with points from Kirby, Carroll and Healy, with Cork getting on the scoresheet for the second period via Dylan O'Neill.
Kirby, Lane and substitute Odhran Ferris added two-pointers to the Kingdom tally, with Cork managing 1-03 without reply late on, including a goal from Danny Miskella, but the result was already beyond doubt.
Kerry moved on to four points after two provincial encounters and welcome Clare next week, while Tipperary are up next for Cork.
