Rian O'Neill looks set to return to All-Ireland champions Armagh's panel after a period of absence.

The Crossmaglen man opted out of their squad before the start of the league with manager Kieran McGeeney saying the talisman 'is just taking a bit of time for himself'.

The Orchard County boss said it was a personal matter and he hoped to see O'Neill rejoin them later in the year.

RTÉ Sport understands he has committed to being part of the group going forward and it is believed he trained with the squad on Tuesday.

Armagh have only won one out of their four league matches, with Dublin visiting the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds on Saturday in a make-or-break clash.

The game may come too soon for O'Neill's involvement.

He could feature against Kerry in the middle of March, with the Ulster Championship clash with Antrim in April the more stressing matter for the Armagh management as they look to make it back-to-back All-Ireland titles
