Tomás Ó Sé hailed the contribution of the Geaney contingent from An Daingean as Kerry struck late to nab the points on offer in Sunday's Allianz Football League Division 1 clash against Derry.

Two defensive lapses in the final two plays of the game handed goals to Kingdom substitutes Donal O'Sullivan and Paul Geaney to flip the game on its head.

Between them Paul Geaney and his cousin Conor contributed 4-04 of the Kingdom's total of 5-15 at Celtic Park. Another relation, Dylan, chipped in with a two-pointer.

Ó Sé speaking on Allianz League Sunday singled out Paul and Conor, when saying: "They had a huge impact today, they were outstanding. Between them they kicked 4-04. At home, even the Tralee lads, would call them the townie forwards.

"Basically how they play is about being cute and being clever; it's composed, it's clinical, it's skilful. I suppose they'll be saying back in Dingle that Dingle beat Derry today.

"The new rules will suit the likes of Paul Geaney. People might have been writing off the likes of Paul Geaney, he's 34, but he's still going strong. The rules will reinvigorate the likes of him."

Also on the programme, former Dublin star Paul Flynn believes the new rules will help Jack O'Connor's squad as they look to improve on a somewhat flat showing in 2024.

"It will reinvigorate Kerry," said the six-time All-Ireland winner.

"The philosophy of Kerry football is coming through. They were moving the ball at pace and there was space for players. You can see when they introduce the rest of the squad and get everybody up to pace that it will suit them.

Overall Flynn was very happy with the fare on offer in the Maiden City.

"It was fantastic for the rule enhancements, for us watching the game you could not take your eyes off it. If you look back to that [All-Ireland] quarter-final from last year, you could disengage but you could not disengage for a second in that game today.

"It was end to end, chaotic, but fantastic for as neutrals to watch. Derry will take a lot of positives from the game. When McGuigan (Shane) kicks that last point, you're thinking they have controlled as much of the game as they possible could and they are going to get of here with a win, then you had what happened at the end."
