Armagh defender Connaire Mackin will miss his team's final All-Ireland SFC Group 1 game against Galway in Markievicz Park on Sunday.

This follows the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) investigation into an incident during their recent win over Derry, and a subsequent hearing.

Mackin lightly poked his foot at the head of Derry midfielder Conor Glass as he lay on the ground in the recent All-Ireland SFC game between the two Ulster counties.

While the kick was with minimal force, it merited a Category 3 charge which carries a one-match ban.

Mackin was handed a retrospective red card for the incident as the match referee, David Coldrick, missed it.

The CCCC alleged a breach of Rule 7.2 (b), Category III, T.O. 2024, that is, "Kicking with minimal force".

Mackin requested a hearing which took place yesterday evening in front of the Central Hearings Committee (CHC).

Today the GAA stated that: "It was found that Infraction proven and imposed the following penalty - a one match suspension in the same code and at the same level, applicable to the next game in the combination of National League/Inter-County Senior Championship, even if that game occurs in the following year."

As it stands this means that Mackin will miss Sunday’s game with Galway although he has the option of appealing against the decision to the Central Appeals Committee (CAC).

Meanwhile, Mayo's Fergal Boland will miss their next two championship games following his failure to overturn a two-game suspension for striking with the elbow with force against Roscommon in their All-Ireland SFC round robin game.

Clare’s Daniel Bohannon also failed to have a proposed one-game ban overturned from his side’s meeting with Tyrone. He will miss tomorrow's SFC clash with Donegal.
