Tyrone will appeal Conn Kilpatrick's red card to the Disputes Resolution Authority in a bid to have the midfielder available for Sunday's Allianz Football League derby with Derry.

Kilpatrick was shown a straight red card last Sunday for a high challenge on Roscommon player David Murray.

A one-match ban for 'behaving in any way which is dangerous to an opponent' was subsequently proposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee and upheld by the Central Hearings Committee. Kilpatrick then took a case to the Central Appeals Committee, which was rejected last night.

RTÉ Sport understands that the Edendork man is now taking the case to the DRA, the last resort of appeal against GAA suspensions, which will make a decision tomorrow morning.

Speaking after the win over the Rossies, Tyrone joint-manager Feargal Logan said "It looked as though it was a challenge for the ball [but it was] just marginally late."

Tyrone will line out at Celtic Park at 3.45pm for a Division 1 clash that is the first meeting between the neighbours since long-time Red Hands manager Mickey Harte took over at Derry.

Both teams won their opening fixtures last weekend, the Oak Leafers holding off Kerry in Tralee.
