Carlow made it two NFL 4 wins out of two when they were easy winners over Waterford.

They hit the ground running when captain Darragh Foley latched on to a high ball and successfully converted the resultant mark.

Younger players Colm Hulton and John Phiri added points before Waterford split the posts with a Jason Curry free.

The home side might have been somewhat subdued but they were still too good for the Decies.

They key moment of the game came on 28 minutes when Jamie Clarke fired to the Waterford net after taking a good pass from Ross Dunphy.

At the interval Carlow led 1-9 to 0-5 and only a dramatic collapse was going to deny them.

Just as they did in the opening half, the home side scored the first point of the second half with Hulton again on the mark.

Curry hit back with a well-worked Waterford score but again this was cancelled out when Conor Crowley raided down the right. This was supplemented with the further raising of white flags with Foley and Hulton on the mark.

The visitors seldom threatened and Carlow could have had two more goals when both Dunphy and Eric Molloy were denied by Waterford keeper Paudie Hunt.

It was easy in the end for the hosts but they will know Laois will be bigger test in two weeks' time.
