Harold Wilson is said to have uttered the famous phrase, 'a week is a long time in politics', but what might the former UK Prime Minister have to say about the Monaghan football team?
Last week the Farney men were being predicted to lose to All-Ireland champions Dublin, a foreshadowing of a long spring that would finally see the great escape artists slip through the trapdoor and into Division 2.
They didn't read the script at Croke Park with Ciarán McNulty's late, late point maintaining their impressive modern league record against the Metropolitans.
Seven days later some are fancying Monaghan to inflict a second consecutive defeat on beaten All-Ireland finalists Kerry, who travel to Clones, and launch on assault on winning the Allianz League.
Speaking on the RTÉ GAA Podcast however, two-time All-Ireland winner Peter Canavan suggested that Monaghan will still have work to do to stay in the top flight over the next couple of months.
"Go back a few days and most people were suggesting, of teams that were going to be relegated, Monaghan was on 95% of people's lists," he said.
"[It was] Monaghan and one other county; Tyrone or Roscommon. Just because they've won one game now I don't think Vinny [Corey] will be saying, 'we're safe here.'
"Some team could have five or six points and still end up going down. It's going to be a really competitive division. I don't think they'll be approaching this game taking it lightly.
"In typical Monaghan fashion they'll not play as well as they did last week. There'll be a lot expected of them and maybe they'll not deliver. If they were going in backs against the ball, and everybody saying they had no chance, that's when they'd produce a big performance.
"Kerry, if they can match their second half intensity that they had last week, they'll be a tough enough nut to crack. Even without the two Cliffords I would give a hesitant vote to Kerry for this one."
