Armagh produced a dramatic late finish to earn their first ever championship win over Galway and advance directly to the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland title with a thrilling 0-16 to 1-12 win in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Man of the match Rory Grugan kicked the winner for Armagh in the third minute of injury-time but Galway still had a chance to snatch a draw in a game where they were level a dozen times but Shane Walsh's free from the left in the 79th minute of a gripping contest went across goal.
That sparked huge celebrations for the Armagh fans who were in the majority of the crowd of 6,803 at the Leitrim venue.
The sides were level four times in the opening 22 minutes but Galway, despite missing a penalty, went in leading by 1-05 to 0-06 at the end of an entertaining opening half.
They exchanged points four times with Grugan, Conor Turbitt, Andrew Murnin and Aidan Forker finding the range for Armagh, with Galway responding through two efforts from Walsh and one apiece from Peter Cooke and Cillian McDaid.
But then ten minutes from the break Galway captain Seán Kelly was fouled after a run forward as he bore down on goal and they were awarded a penalty. However, Armagh goalkeeper Ethan Rafferty got down well to his left to save Shane Walsh's penalty.
Armagh turned the screw by breaking downfield to edge 0-05 to 0-04 in front when Turbitt pointed a free after Stefan Campbell was fouled.
But another run from deep by full-back Kelly yielded a goal when he soloed in from 45 metres and coolly slotted the ball low into the left corner.
Campbell responded for Armagh with a good point but Galway went in leading by two when All Star McDaid slotted his second from the game after another patient build-up.
Armagh got on top after the restart and hit three points in a row from Murnin, Turbitt and Campbell to lead by 0-09 to 1-05 after 40 minutes.

Walsh and Matthew Tierney responded for Galway to regain the lead after 42 minutes before a Grugan free tied the sides for the seventh time.
Turbitt and Walsh then exchanged points before Jason Duffy and Cooke did likewise to leave them tied at 1-09 to 0-12 after 51 minutes.
Walsh, with a free from 45 metres from his left foot, edged Galway back in front after 56 minutes but they were level for a tenth time on the hour when Murnin fisted over a floating delivery from Grugan.
Armagh hit the front seven minutes from time when Grugan pointed a free from 30 metres as the rain started to come down but, almost inevitably, Galway hit back to equalise when Kelly sent a first-time effort over the bar after once more going forward from defence.
Tierney edged the Tribesmen back in front only for Forker to level after 68 minutes and then they came good in that dramatic finish to score their first ever win over Galway to top the pool and advance to the quarter-finals.
