Sligo strengthened their hopes of promotion as they made it three wins in row with victory in London.

Sligo started the game brightly with a brace of points from David Quinn after just two minutes of play.

A penalty on seven minutes placed Sligo in a very strong position as Sean Carrabine was caught very high by London keeper Andrew Walsh. Patrick O'Connor stepped up and hit the back of the net from the spot..

London responded with their opening score on 11 minutes when wing back Aidan McLoughlin finished well after some neat build-up play.

This point settled the home side and they followed up with another from centre forward Christopher Farley as he pointed from a free after Joseph McGill was fouled.

Sligo's Niall Murphy and London's Farley traded points as the game tightened up but the visitors finished the first-half strongly and two further points from Murphy saw them going into the break leading 1-06 to 0-03.

Sligo hit four first half wides but it was London who were very the more wasteful throughout the second half.

The home side were left cursing their luck on 38 minutes when Joseph McGill's sideline ball came back off the post.

It took London 20 minutes to register a score in the second half which will be big concern for Michael Maher side as they aim for a strong finish in the league.

The point came from Kerry native Kevin McCarthy after he was just introduced as substitute but any hopes of building up any momentum ended a minute later when David Quinn knocked over a free.

Alan Reilly thought he had scored Sligo's second goal of the game on 60 minutes but referee Fergal Kelly disallowed it due to a square ball.

Sligo added another score minute later this, again from the boot of Murphy, to leave nine points between the sides.

Kevin McCathy picked up a black card on 64 minutes for a foul on Luke Towey, killing off any slim hopes of a late London revival.

Pat Spillane got his name on the scoresheet before the end of the match as Sligo made it three wins in succession.
