Tyrone manager Mickey Harte is poised to miss his side’s Allianz Football League Division 1 relegation encounter against Kerry at Healy Park on Sunday after undergoing surgery on Monday.

Peter Donnelly and Gavin Devlin, who serve as lynchpins in Tyrone’s backroom team, are set to orchestrate affairs in Harte’s absence, while former assistant Tony Donnelly is reportedly ready to return to the fray in a temporary advisory capacity.

Donnelly acted as a deputy to the Tyrone supremo for almost a decade before exiting the set-up at the end of the last campaign and would bring a wealth of knowledge to the sidelines as Tyrone tackle the Kingdom in a must-win match.

The Red Hands require a winning margin of at least two points to avoid dropping to the second tier of the football league.

Tyrone GAA issued a statement which read: "Tyrone senior football manager Mickey Harte underwent a surgical procedure on Monday and is now recovering at home.

"He will resume his managerial duties with the senior football team in the very near future.

"Coiste Contae Thír Eoghain, the players and backroom team wish Mickey a speedy recovery."
