Laois, Longford and Louth all advanced to the second round of the Leinster Under-21 Football Championship on Wednesday night.

Larry Moran, Conor Shields, Rory Connor and Liam Connerton grabbed Longford’s goals in a 4-13 to 1-05 annihilation of Wicklow in Newtowncashel.

Louth will travel to Newtowncashel to face Longford next Wednesday after defeating Carlow in Darver on a 3-11 to 2-10 scoreline. Louth goalscorer Cian Doyle was dismissed in the second half but the Wee County had enough in reserve to reach the second round.

Laois will host Dublin in the second round after finishing with a flourish to see off Wexford’s challenge in Enniscorthy.

There was nothing to separate the two sides at the interval, but goals from Tom Shiels, Evin Keane and Evan O’Carroll ensured the O’Moore men triumphed by a 10-point margin.

Results:

Louth 3-11 Carlow 2-10
Wexford 1-11 Laois 4-12
Longford 4-13 Wicklow 1-05
