Dermot Molloy has withdrawn from the Donegal senior football panel, citing a lack of game time as the reason behind his decision.
Molloy, who has made over 50 appearances for his county, had been reduced to a bit-part player of late and revealed that he was struggling for motivation with the lack of game time he was getting.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Molloy said: "At the start of this year, I found the road very hard to go down and the hunger was out of me.
"It’s very hard when you’re only getting 10 or 15 minutes to really go out and enjoy it. I didn’t see that changing this year. I don’t think there was going to be the opportunity to get 70 minutes week-in, week-out."
Molloy now hopes that playing his club Naomh Conail can give him back some of his passion for the game. "I’ll go back to the club and try to find the spark again," he added.
